Expert Review & Rating
Market Position in 2026
The Samsung Galaxy A25, released in 2023, functions primarily as a budget-friendly option in the 2026 used or refurbished market. Its hardware, while competent at launch, now faces stiff competition from newer budget and mid-range devices offering more advanced chipsets and display technologies.
The Compromises
The plastic frame and back are a clear corner cut, contributing to a less premium in-hand feel. The Exynos 1280, while capable for basic tasks, will struggle with demanding applications and modern gaming in 2026. The 2MP macro camera is largely a token inclusion, offering limited practical utility, and the 25W charging speed is noticeably slow compared to contemporary budget offerings.
Performance & Daily Usage
Based on the Exynos 1280 (5nm) chipset, the Galaxy A25 provides adequate performance for routine tasks like browsing, social media, and light productivity. UI responsiveness should be generally smooth, especially with the promised Android updates, but users may experience occasional stutters in more intensive apps. Thermal management, given the 5nm process and mid-range nature, is unlikely to be a significant issue under typical loads.
The Best Features
The 5000mAh battery capacity, combined with the 5nm Exynos 1280, strongly suggests reliable all-day endurance for average users, a significant advantage. The inclusion of OIS on the 50MP main camera is a standout feature for its original price segment, providing improved clarity and stability in photos and videos. Stereo speakers enhance the multimedia experience, making content consumption more enjoyable. Furthermore, the commitment to four major Android upgrades means this device will continue receiving software support well into 2027, extending its functional lifespan.
Buying Advice
This phone is a suitable option for individuals seeking a highly affordable, reliable device for basic communication and media consumption on the used market in 2026. However, users prioritizing modern performance, faster charging, or premium build materials should explore newer budget alternatives.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
The Samsung Galaxy A25 can be a worthwhile purchase in 2026 if found at a significantly reduced price on the used or refurbished market, especially for users who prioritize battery life and long-term software support over cutting-edge performance or premium features. Its Exynos 1280 chipset and 25W charging are dated compared to new budget phones.
While the 50MP main camera benefits from OIS, which helps with stability in challenging lighting, its f/1.8 aperture and 0.64µm pixel size suggest that low-light performance will be acceptable for casual use but will not rival that of higher-end or even some newer mid-range phones in 2026. The absence of a dedicated night mode or larger sensor size indicates limitations.
